Mesia, with the traditional Maasai name Masiyori Ole Ning’ori, is a 3 year old Maasai girl. She became an orphan after her parents died last year. She was then taken in by a Maasai family who were friends with her parents. Due to the drought this year, the situation of the Maasai family who mainly live off their cattle breeding, is becoming increasingly critical.

The ward officer in her home village contacted Social Welfare with the story of Mesia. He said that Mesia, like all other children, wants to go to school and learn how to read and write. But because of her nomadic life, she never had the opportunity to do so. Mesia has been to clinics several times and has a clinic card. After Marcel presented a case for the girl, she has now been accepted into the Mafiri Children’s Home.
